Fixed Penalty Notices
Litter and dog mess – true staples of local journalism as you’re never short of an angry resident complaining about something (many a week I was saved by litter when I was desperately scrabbling for a front page on a Tuesday afternoon).
This dataset is a good example of why it pays not to be too over reliant on the output from the ONS or Government Department/Regional Government stats pages, as the information on fixed penalty notices was buried (as is most stuff frankly) in an obscure section of the Welsh Government website. I only spotted it because I follow most of the sites RSS feeds.
Thinking about it I should probably go and do an xls trawl to see what else I missed.
Cancer Waiting Times
There’s quite a few bits of health data that are published on a monthly basis by the Welsh Government and I’m trying to work out the best way to present them so they could be easily updated each month to either find the latest story or just give people an indicator of the current situation.
I don’t think I’ve quite cracked it yet in making it understandable and useable, but I’m going to keep trying until it makes a bit more sense.
