I am currently a reporter at Media Wales, where I’ve worked since March 2010.
I am a general news reporter but I have a particular focus on and love of data, and am mostly to be found hunched over a spreadsheet, trying to pull stories out of government data releases, answers to parliamentary questions and FOI replies.
I also run the WalesOnline datastore (www.walesonline.co.uk/data) which is a repository for the data and graphics relating to the stories that I and other reporters have written.

Claire,
Your blog, it is outstanding.
I really appreciate your tutorials and explanations, it feels like you put a lot of thought and effort into them and they are immensely informative.
I look forward to reading more of your work!
Oh, full disclosure: I work for a software company, Pentaho, that creates open-source Business Intelligence/Analytics software. I’m currently exploring if data journalists are potential customers for this software, almost entirely on a personal level.
If you ever have free time, I’d love to hear what you think about Pentaho and it’s potential use within DDJ.
I’m a curious technical writer (not a sales person) with a deep appreciation and admiration for journalists.
Here’s a link to Pentaho, if you’re ever interested: http://www.pentaho.com/
